Holy Cake Balls Batman!

A friend of mine said she was making cake balls. I was clueless as to what those were so I googled it. So what are cake balls?

They are balls of yummy cake goodness mixed with delicious frosting and covered and any kind of sweet coating you can think of! Here's the recipe:

1 box cake mix, prepared as directed on the box. Any size. Doesn't matter because you will be crumbling it.
1 can frosting
1 bag chocolate chips: white, dark, semi sweet or milk.. your choice

Directions:
1.) Bake the cake and let it cook atleast 20 min
2.) Dump the cake into a large bowl and crumble. No chunks!
3.) Dump the can of frosting into the cake crumbs and mix until all the cake crumbs are moistened by the fristing
4.) using a cookie scooper, scoop mixture into balls and place on a cookie sheet
5.) Refrigerate about 1 hour (helps them stay together when dipping)
6.) Melt chocolate chips or whatever coating you are using (when the balls are almost done chilling)
7.) Dip cooled cake balls into melted chocolate/coating and place on parchment paper covered cookie sheet. Top with sprinkles if desired

I used dark chocolate cake mix, cream cheese frosting and melted peanut butter chips... oh man. Those are some seriously scrumptious treats! I also put them in cupcake paper cups to keep them seperated and easy for people to grab.
